Training Programs

Emergency Medical Technician:
This program prepares students to give pre-hospital emergency care to victims of accidents or medical emergencies in the pre-hospital environments. All instruction meets the Department of Transportation curriculum standards for pre-hospital care, and totals 200 hours. The program includes clinical observations with a Louisiana State Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) approved ambulance service. After completion of the program, students are eligible to take the written and practical registry examinations for National Registry of EMT and Louisiana State certification. Emergency Medical Technician – Refresher Training Program:

The program adheres to the Department of Transportation and Louisiana State Bureau of Emergency Medical Services recertification requirements for EMTs. This 24 hour program is one of the requirements to maintain EMT certification and must be taken by March 31 prior to the EMT’s certification expiration. This program provides a review of the information given in the initial course as well as any changes in treatment protocol. Private and public courses are offered. Emergency Medical Responder Training Program:
This program is designed specifically for the person who is often the first to arrive at the scene of an accident or medical emergency. Many police officers, firefighters and industrial workers are certified as First Responders. Training emphasizes activating the EMS system and providing immediate care for life-threatening illnesses and injuries, controlling the scene and preparing for the arrival of an ambulance. The program follows the Department of Transportation and Louisiana State Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) guidelines. This is a 48 hour course. Emergency Medical Responder Refresher Training Program:
This is a 20 hour course that is required every two years for the Emergency Medical Responder to maintain certification. The course provides for a review of basic skills as well as general knowledge. Contact our office to schedule a class or refer to our calendar for course dates.

NOTE: The EMT, EMT Refresher, Emergency Medical Responder & Emergency Medical Responder Refresher programs are Louisiana State Bureau of Emergency Medical Services approved programs. EMR Programs can also be conducted through the American Safety & Health Institute.

Current healthcare provider CPR training or its equivalent is required prior to taking the EMT or Emergency MEdical Responder programs.

Cardio Pulmonary Training (CPR):
CPR training provided through two nationally recognized organizations. Meets or exceeds the national guidelines. Contact our office for more information or refer to our calendar for class dates.

First Aid Training:
First Aid training provided through a nationally and internationally recognized organization. Training also includes CPR. Contact our office for more information or refer to our calendar for class dates.

Automated External Defibrillator Training:
AED training provided through two nationally recognized organizations. Can be added to the CPR and/or First Aid programs. Contact our office for more information or refer to our calendar for class dates.

Bloodborne Pathogens Training:
Training on the most current information with reference to the protection and transmission of bloodborne pathogens. A stand alone program or a program that can be added to any of our other programs. Contact our office for more information or refer to our calendar for class dates.

Emergency Response Training:
Scenario based training to prepare emergency response personnel for actual emergencies. Training tailored based upon needs of customer. Contact our office for more information.
